PluggedIN Management Team

About me

Hi, I'm Lail, a VP here at PluggedIN, heading up platform development and design. People began paying me to put things online way back in 2000. I got my start at various advertising agencies and web-development studios. In 2005, I left a position as senior interactive designer at Coombs New Media to co-found Form, a studio focused on web application creation and online brand development. During my three year stay, I led creative and development projects for companies including Scion, Atlantic Records, Kodak, Tommy Hilfiger and Bausch & Lomb while helping to create web applications for blogging, photo-sharing, social-networking and gaming. I signed on here at PluggedIN in mid-2008 to apply everything I'd learned toward developing the PluggedIN Platform and our custom communities.

I believe that in order to create a successful online community, you need to build a great place for members to express themselves. That means starting from the user experience and then working your way back to a solid technology base. One can't work without the other, so I've always tried to work with both.

Random facts

  • I've been bumming around Rochester, NY since graduating from RIT at the turn of the century.
  • I programmed my first video game in the 6th grade. It was actually pretty fun.
  • I used to run a tiny indie record label out of my living room with my wife and some friends.
  • I recently became a father. We're sleeping surprisingly well (so far).
